Now share Personalized Dashboards with clients

Customers do not always understand how to read the results from web analytics products and see a tangible return on their investments. It's hard to show them without time consuming meetings. Web agencies often rely on Excel and Word to create analytics reports for clients. It’s a manual process that involves a lot of copy and pasting. Yet an agency’s main value-add isn’t report creation, but analyzing data and providing key findings and recommendations to clients.

How does it works?

1. Sign up for DashThis and authorize them to hook into your Google Analytics
2. They pull the needed Google Analytics data for your dashboards
3.Thy will scan through your Analytics profile and build your Executive Dashboard
4.Then they adapt your dashboard to your specific needs

12.  _gaq.push(['_trackPageview','/facebook/campaign-tracking/']);

15.  } else if (self.location == top.location) {
16.  // If Google Analytics doesn't load within 2 seconds, refresh and frame the page anyway. People dislike waiting. Change the time if you like.

Optimizing Youtube Channel- Tips

1.  Have a list of relevant keywords ready for which you want to be found in a search.  Local businesses should have a list with their locations in the phrase and a list without those geographic modifiers.

2.  Pick a relevant search term as your channel name. If you're a local business, I would choose something with a location in the name, like Houston Montrose Hardware.  Make sure that you complete the Channel Tags section with relevant keywords in quotation marks.

3.  Do a search for other videos using your keyword list.  Find videos with more than 20,000 views.  Add a few of those to your "Favorites" list.

4.  Then begin to search for videos to add to your Playlists.  When you find a video that you like in your keyword search, add it to a new playlist, and name the playlist with your keyword phrase.

At some point, you'll want to begin to upload your own videos. Here are the 10 best strategies to optimize video on YouTube for more traffic:

1.  Title:  In the Title section, be sure to use keywords by which you want to be found.

2.  Description:  In the description, make sure that what appears first is the full URL of your web site that you want to promote, followed by a description that also contains keywords.

3.  Tags:  In the tags section, enter keywords here, but each keyword will need to be enclosed in quotation marks, like "Redondo Beach Wedding Florist" "Malibu Wedding Flowers".

4.  Category:  Choose the best category for your video and make your video public.

5.  Maps:  If you're a local business, you'll then click on Maps and select a location for your video (ideally it's your physical address) and then save changes.

6.  Settings:  In your Channel settings, choose to autoplay your featured video, which will be the last video you uploaded, unless you pick a different one. The newly uploaded video should begin to play automatically when someone arrives at your channel.

7.  Sharing:  Bookmark, Like, Favorite and Share Your Videos from your channel page, not from the videos list.

8.  Captions and Subtitles:  For extra indexing opportunities and ADA compliance, submit transcriptions or closed-caption tracks for each video through the "Captions and Subtitles" tab.

9.  Getting Subscribers:  Ask your clients, friends, colleagues, etc. to subscribe to your channel, add themselves as friends, or comment on your channel.

10.  Change Playlist:  Once you have uploaded a number of videos, you may want to change your settings so that your channel displays only your own videos.

Good campaign again by Ogilvy- for smokers

http://bcove.me/g0tnumdy

Above is the link for the campaign that Ogilvy India created for Cancer Patients Association.

There are lighters installed at all the Pan-shops in India wherein a person purchases the ciggrette and use this to lit it. The idea was to turn the lighter into a ‘chanting lighter’ – and every time  a smoker tried to light from it, it played ‘Raam Naam Satya Hai’ – a chant which is sung when people’s corpses are carried to the funeral pyre. Which meant whether the smoker loves the idea or hates it, he or she will not be able to ignore it.”

The “chanting lighters" were installed at 25 locations in Mumbai in February 2012. These were regular streetside lighters into which the sound chip was attached, and this was done in India itself. According to the agency, smokers were taken aback by the new way of spreading the message. The YouTube video of the activity is getting comments, and international news organisations have also featured the campaign.

10 Steps to create Personas- Very nice Infographic

Check which Network Your user are logged into- with Analytics

This is a simple method of finding out which user is logged into which social network while he is visitn your website:

There are 2 Major steps:

  1. Setup an empty Facebook app. Its free
  2. Install the Javascript code onto the page

Here are few sub steps:

Sub Steps:

  1. Login to Facebook.
  2. Go to the Facebook Developers page: https://developers.facebook.com/apps
  3. Press "Create New App" in the top right corner.
  4. For "App Display Name" enter anything you want; I used "TomTrack". Check the box to agree to the FB Policies and on to the next page.
  5. The next stage is pretty easy, just enter your domain in both the "App Domain" and "Website" sections

  1. Hit "Save Changes" .
  2. Grab the App ID from the top of the page and save it ready for the next section.

Install Javascript Code :you need to add this snippet of Javascript to the top of your page in the <head> section; this function will do the recording to analytics for us (this is for the asynchronous version of google analytics so if you are using the old version you need to remove it)

Next we add the following code to the bottom of the page before the </body> tag, ensuring you replce the appID in the Facebook code with that AppID you created above

Setting up Google Analytics

Custom segments are really easy to setup, and can give a keen insight into your analytics when used well.
  1. Click "Advanced Segments" at the top of your analytics screen (once you're into the relevant profile), and hit "+ New Custom Segment" at the bottom right of the drop down.
  2. You'll be prompted to select a name for your segment and to select which facets to base it on. We'll be using the Custom Variable slots that the Javascript tracking code uses. Analytics allows 5 Custom Variable slots, and the code above uses 4 of these (1 = Google, 2 = Google+, 3 = Twitter, and 4=Facebook) [side note: I think you could cram all these into 1 slot possibly]. We'll make a segment for each; here is how I setup my Twitter segment:
  1. Hit "Save Segment" and you're done. Now repeat this for each of the other variables. Ensure you are selecting "Custom Variable (Value xx)" and not "Custom Variable (Key xx)".
  2. You're done and are ready to play with some data.

Viewing the data in analytics

Select those you are interested in and "All Visits" if you also wish to compare against all the traffic, and hit Apply.
