Cheat Code to check what Error 404 Pages are returning

Technically speaking, 404 pages should not return status 200 codes. The reasoning being that it could be confusing to spiders as they see a page that exists technically have no content. This can affect rankings over time because it is creates massive duplicate content as bots are crawling through the same content over and over again across several URLs.

How to check this?

Go to Google andf type this :

site:example.com/ "page not found"

Lets look at an example of www.ibibo.com

All the results mentioned above are returning results which is not good . So next time when you are analysing any of the website, please make sure you check this seperately.

A very good SEO tool - On page elements

Found out a new tool for SEO which is really very helpful. Here is a brief text from Screaming Frog

"The Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a small desktop program you can install on your PC or Mac which spiders websites’ links, images, CSS, script and apps from an SEO perspective. It fetches key onsite page elements for SEO, presents them in tabs by type and allows you to filter for common SEO issues, or slice and dice the data how you see fit by exporting into Excel. You can view, analyse and filter the crawl data as it’s gathered and updated continuously in the program’s user interface.

The Screaming Frog SEO Spider allows you to quickly analyse, audit and review a site from an onsite SEO perspective. It’s particulary good for analysing medium to large sites where manually checking every page would be extremely labour intensive (or impossible!) and where you can easily miss a redirect, meta refresh or duplicate page issue.

The spider allows you to export key onsite SEO elements (url, page title, meta description, headings etc) to Excel so it can easily be used as a base to make SEO recommendations from. Our video below provides a demonstration of what the tool can do -"

Privacy Policy for your Website- Creation and Best Practices

Privacy Policy Best Practices

Creating, updating, monitoring or managing privacy policies and practices may not be your responsibility. But that doesn’t mean you should ignore possible missteps. More importantly, those who are responsible may not know the rules, regulations or best practices.

For those who are responsible, whether it’s part of your job because you’re an entrepreneur and everything is your responsibility, or you’re hoping to add this area to your book of knowledge, there are best practices to keep in mind.

  1. Don’t ignore the FTC or state laws that provide minimum standards.
  2. Write the policy in plain English. If you have a lawyer draft your policy, ask that it be written so your consumer or visitor will clearly understand.
  3. Don’t cut and paste something you found for free on the Internet. Because the risk of penalties is very real, this is not the time to be cheap. Your policy should be your own and reflect the unique circumstances of your site.
  4. Update your policy regularly to reflect changes in the online environment, what your company actually does with information and clarify areas that may be vague. And once it’s updated, communicate the update!
  5. Follow the policy! If there is only one thing learned from the FTC sanctions of Facebook, it is that you should follow your policy and not engage in deceptive practices.
  6. Allow consumers, readers, forum visitors or others to opt out of having their personal information retained. And then follow through with their wish.
  7. Make your policy easy to find and accessible. One of the biggest complaints I hear is that the policies are buried or inaccessible due to broken links.
  8. Ensure that the stored information is, indeed, secure. Security breaches are not only very costly in terms of having to invest in infrastructure, the potential disclosure or sale of private information can be devastating.
  9. Utilize a well-respected privacy certification program to add credibility.
  10. Do not ask for intrusive or excessively personal informationunless it’s absolutely necessary. Consumers are getting savvier and are less willing to provide sensitive information if they don’t feel the situation merits such an intrusion. If you need this information, be clear as to why and include how you will protect the data.

Videos Indexing in SERP through YouTube Videos

Go to youtube channel , we will now embed all the youtube videos in the website

1.    Open any of the video and follow the steps mentioned : 1>2>3>4

2.       Now paste this code on the website where you want to have this video placed. Every Video should have the following :
·         Title - This should be the same as the title of the page your video appears.
·         Description - Make this exactly match the meta description of your page.
·         Play page URL - The canonical URL of the page your video appears.
·         Thumbnail URL - By thumbnail they mean a high resolution image up to 1920x1080.
·         Raw video location - This is the embed src link noted from above pointing at the clip.
   3.        Once you have all the videos placed on the website, its now the time to create a video sitemap. The best way to learn how a video sitemap works is to see one. First start by creating a new file, name it something like: video-sitemap.xml

   4.   Once you're done you'll upload it to the root of your website:

5.     The final Sitemap should look something like the one mentioned below. For every video you have copy/paste the <url></url> block. In the example below there are two video URL blocks, the top block has descriptors for the fields, the bottom block is exactly a video sitemap should look like. Its  preferable to keep videos in chronological order with the newest video on top.

6.        Once you are done, upload the sitemap using Google Webmaster: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en

So here is the way to get listed in SERPs with all your video sitemaps.
